Withings’ U-Scan Nutrio Tracker Attaches to Toilet to Analyze Urine

Hot on the heels of Kohler’s Dekoda poop analyzer announced last week, Withings has announced the launch of its toilet-mounted tracker, the U-Scan Nutrio. Though it’s number two in the smart-toilet segment, unlike Dekoda, U-Scan Nutrio analyzes your “number one”.

U-Scan Nutrio is a home urine analysis device designed to monitor hydration, nutrition, and metabolic indicators through passive testing. Installed inside a toilet bowl, the device uses replaceable cartridges to perform up to 44 tests per cycle, automatically detecting urination events and transmitting data to the Withings app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

The system tracks four biomarkers: ketones, vitamin C, urine pH (bio-acidity), and specific gravity (HydroStatus). Ketone levels help assess fat metabolism, which is relevant for users following ketogenic diets, fasting protocols, or endurance training. Vitamin C concentration reflects dietary intake and may indicate whether antioxidant levels are sufficient. Urine pH offers insight into dietary acid-base balance, which can affect digestion and inflammation. Specific gravity provides an estimate of hydration status, with higher values suggesting lower fluid intake.

Data collected by the device is processed using Withings Intelligence, an algorithmic platform that identifies trends and offers recommendations based on biomarker patterns. Users receive feedback through the app, which includes historical tracking and optional nutrition plans via the Withings+ subscription.

U-Scan Nutrio is available in two usage tiers: Proactive and Intensive. The Proactive plan supports 2–4 tests per week with one cartridge, while the Intensive plan supports 5–7 weekly tests with two cartridges. Both include a cleaning and charging station and automatic cartridge renewal every 1–3 months.

The device is intended for general wellness monitoring and is not approved for medical diagnosis or treatment. It cannot detect or manage conditions such as dehydration, kidney disease, or nutrient deficiencies. Instead, it provides users with regular data that may support dietary and hydration adjustments.

Battery life is estimated at three months per charge. The system is designed for passive use, requiring no manual sample collection or test initiation. While the technology offers convenience for tracking certain health metrics, its scope is limited to the biomarkers supported by the current cartridge and algorithmic framework. However, the U-Scan Nutrio, along with the Dekoda, seems to indicate a growing interest in the field of smart toilet trackers and human waste analysis for personal health.

U-Scan Nutrio is available for order starting at $380.
